Questions for Christians

  1. Do you believe that children should be responsible for the transgressions of their parents? If your great-grandfather committed a crime, should you also be punished for it?
  2. If you don't believe in such a practice, how do you reconcile this fundamental moral tenet that you practice in your daily life, which is in contrast with Christianity and scripture, which mandates that descendants are responsible for the sins of their forebears?

  3. Do you believe that ritualistic sacrifice and the killing of innocent creatures is a suitable way to repay a debt?
  4. Can you see yourself ceremonially burning a goat at an altar to cover your electricity bill? Should you be able to sacrifice your child's life to repay a debt to someone else? If you don't think this behavior is appropriate or moral, why would you worship a deity who claims to have forgiven mankind via ritualistic murder?

  5. Do you believe that morality comes from religion?
  6. Does man not have any other reason than the fear of God to keep him from behaving badly? If so, how do you reconcile the fact that there are plenty of decent people who don't believe in gods? If not, how do you reconcile your liberal interpretation of things with scripture and institutions that suggest otherwise?

  7. Do you believe that God knows our future? (Psalm 139:16)
  8. If so, why does God allow children to be born into certain countries or cultures -- knowing in advance that they will never even hear about Christianity -- and then send them to hell for not believing in Jesus?

  9. Do you believe that God is just?
  10. If so, why does He give us no direct evidence of His existence when He openly revealed Himself to innumerable people over the course of a couple of thousand years? If God could save billions of souls from eternal damnation simply by showing himself publicly, is it not unjust for Him deny us this advantage which He granted so many people in the Bible?

1 if your sins are forgiven then what would be left to transfer to your children

the basically means that everyone is born with sin you may not be accountable for them but the temptations of the flesh are always there no matter the age.

2 A sacrifice was offered not necessarily needing to be life being lost.

The need for sacrifice was given as a punishment and in so was just for we as a species committed a horrible crime unto ourselves and God. Is it not the role of a parent to punish the child so that he may learn. The final sacrifice was of one of infinite power. That action now frees us of the need for ritualistic sacrifice of animals, but now we must sacrifice ourselves not to appease debts but to further enrich our relationship with god and to earn a reward that we will never deserve.

3 Yes "morality" can be achieved through other mean, but think of it from another perspective if God does indeed exist then wouldn't everything be created by him and thus directly or indirectly caused by him.

4 God holds his children accountable for what they know, And the likelihood of a person never hearing of God there entire life are virtually nill.

5 if God openly revealed himself to the world then you would have no choice but to choose him. God seeks our love, without a choice you are not actualy giving him your love it is merely false love.

Without evil there is no good.
Good cannot be if there is no referencew point on the opposite end of the scale.

All in all none know the mind of God and his ways are mysterious, but just merciful and holy.

Freedom of speech and freedom of the press suppressed in the UK parliament

Copied from the Spectator's article (who knows they might be gagged too);

"This time, perhaps even the lawyers have gone too far. It's hard to recall, even in the long history of appalling gagging orders, a more disgraceful injunction than this:

The Guardian has been prevented from reporting parliamentary proceedings on legal grounds which appear to call into question privileges guaranteeing free speech established under the 1688 Bill of Rights.

Today's published Commons order papers contain a question to be answered by a minister later this week. The Guardian is prevented from identifying the MP who has asked the question, what the question is, which minister might answer it, or where the question is to be found.

The Guardian is also forbidden from telling its readers why the paper is prevented – for the first time in memory – from reporting parliament. Legal obstacles, which cannot be identified, involve proceedings, which cannot be mentioned, on behalf of a client who must remain secret.

The only fact the Guardian can report is that the case involves the London solicitors Carter-Ruck, who specialise in suing the media for clients, who include individuals or global corporations.

Remarkable, even by the appalling standards of our libel laws and addled judiciary. This appears to be the question in, er, question:

From Parliament.uk, “Questions for Oral or Written Answer beginning on Tuesday 13 October 2009″

(292409)
61
N Paul Farrelly (Newcastle-under-Lyme): To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, what assessment he has made of the effectiveness of legislation to protect (a) whistleblowers and (b) press freedom following the injunctions obtained in the High Court by (i) Barclays and Freshfields solicitors on 19 March 2009 on the publication of internal Barclays reports documenting alleged tax avoidance schemes and (ii) Trafigura and Carter-Ruck solicitors on 11 September 2009 on the publication of the Minton report on the alleged dumping of toxic waste in the Ivory Coast, commissioned by Trafigura.

And this is a report on how the oil company Trafigura tried to cover up pollution in Africa.

This country's libel laws have been a disgrace for years and one can only hope that egregious abuses of an already abusive system persuades folk that, dash it, something must be done.

UPDATE: The Twitterverse is going mental for #trafigura and I suspect that by the time all this is over far more people will be aware of the controversy swirling around Trafigura's African adventures than would have been the case had they kept quiet and not attempted to silence the press. Combatting this sort of bullying, however, is one thing the blogosphere is good at.

UPDATE 2: There is, at the time of writing, no mention of this story on the BBC's website. Why on earth not? "

Wikileak of the document which caused the question..if that makes sense

Savage

And lets not dismiss the egregious wrong done to american talk show host "Micheal Savage" who was banned in Britain for utilizing free speech which at worse is not 'politically correct'.
Cambridge invited him to speak in defense of free speech, via satelite, then withdrew under pressure of the fascist Brown and his 'brown-shirts'.

Sign the petition to revoke the unfair extradition treaty with the US

Realistically this probably wont revoke the treaty but it might help convince the government to do more to prevent the extradition of McKinnon.

It's just a small thing which may help the poor messed up little McKinnon bloke. If the treaty are forcing as to extradite this harmless deluded fella then something is wrong.

Elaine Morgan and The Aquatic Ape

A very interesting if controversial theory. Doesn't seem like there is enough direct evidence yet to change the paradigm but it at least seem worth investigation.

Note: After a little more investigation the counter arguments seem to be a little more solid. Although I would still be interested to hear from a professional what kind of investigation/discussion has been done regarding the AAT.

Climbing in Wimbourne

First of all a massive thanks to Alex for organising and running our little expedition climbing in Wimbourne! We all really appreciate your tuition!

Here's the footage from climbing. Apologies if its cut really badly; first of all I'm not that good. Also I spent hours cutting it together into a clean single video only to find out that you tube has a 10 minute cap on videos. So instead below you'll find a playlist of all the footage split into relatively small vids. Enjoy!

And here are the photos from the event taken by Mauro;
